About Me

_________________________

As a clinical psychologist I focus on an integrated mind-body perspective on health and illness. I have written in the area of mindfulness and its relationship to psychological wellbeing. I specifically emphasize its effects on one’s inner capacities for healing both body and mind.

I received a doctorate in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology, San Diego (APA accredited) and completed postgraduate training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy at the Wright Institute Los Angeles.  At the Institute I was also afforded the opportunity to train in the onsite Susan Krevoy Eating Disorders Program where I provided individual and group therapy for those struggling with eating disturbances; including anorexia, bulimia and compulsive eating, as well as for their families. After receiving the psychologist license I obtained a certificate in the psychoanalytic psychotherapy program at the Psychoanalytic Center of California.

While I worked with Shanti Orange County, an agency that provides services for individuals living with HIV/AIDS, as well as for their family members, I received the training and experience to work with GLBTQ clients and with those affected by HIV/AIDS. I also gained extensive knowledge about many issues facing the GLBTQ and HIV communities.

While I specialize in relationship problems, gender and sexuality related concerns, and eating disorders, my background includes working with a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, conflict, grief, stress management, body-image issues, and general life transitions.
I am licensed to practice psychology in California (PSY23131) and am a member of the following professional organizations: California Psychological Association, Orange County Psychological association.

Many years ago, realizing a sense of general unhappiness and being plagued with several physical problems, I started my own journey into personal growth and self-awareness using a variety of insight-promoting practices. Once I overcame most of my resistances, I realized that I didn’t know myself very well and that I didn’t like living in unawareness as it caused me to miss what was most beautiful and meaningful in my life. Using mindfulness practices I developed new kinds of control and wisdom based on the capacity for relaxation, awareness, and insight and by allowing myself to be where I already am. Being mindful also has helped me find balance in my life as it integrates body and mind.

Working as a therapist is a scientific and creative process and I enjoy facilitating and being witness to the personal growth of my clients. I feel passionate about helping others find solutions to their problems and to feel better about themselves and their lives through increased control, insight, and balance.

Therapy is right for anyone who is interested in getting the most out of life by creating greater self-awareness and working towards change. If you are ready for change, call me today at 949.290.2050 or email me at
